Acceptd Profiles: Tell Us About Yourself!

Published July 13th, 2021

Did you know that Acceptd partners with arts festivals, workshops, colleges, and competitions all around the world? Your Acceptd profile is your passport to discovering the most exciting arts opportunities at home and abroad. Check out these tips for filling out your Acceptd Profile with the most popular search fields used by arts organizations.

Area of Interest - Interests upon Interests!

Once you choose your broad Area(s) of Interest, you will have the chance to choose more specific interests within those categories. Here is a non-exhaustive list of some of the options within areas of interest:

  • Music Interests: composition, conducting, music business, performance

HOT TIP: Also be sure to select your instrument type(s)! A trumpet player doesn’t need to hear about vocal workshops, and a percussionist doesn’t need to hear about a violin competition.

  • Theatre Interests: acting, musical theatre, directing, stage management, tech

  • Dance Interests: choreography, commercial dance, management, performance

  • Visual Arts Interests: 3-D design, architecture, art history, animation, fashion design

  • Cinematic Arts Interests: animation, acting, casting, and cinematography

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT: If you are interested in composition programs, you may not want to hear about performance based programs. If you are interested in theatre tech, you may not want to hear about acting or musical theatre programs. So what type of programs do you want to hear about? Let us know!

Gender Identity

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT: If you do not identify as a woman, you might not want to hear about a women's-only college. Make sure you only hear about RELEVANT programs by indicating your gender identity.

Ethnicity

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT: There are many programs and scholarships for historically underrepresented groups. Make sure you hear about them by including your ethnicity on your profile.

High School and/or College Graduation Year

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT: Did you graduate a year early? Or a year late? Don’t miss out on hearing about opportunities just because you don’t fall into the typical age range.

Portfolio

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT: Did you know that arts programs can search to see only artists who have uploaded a portfolio to Acceptd? Make it easy for programs to find your work. A direct upload of your artwork, reel, or concert clip to your profile gives them the ease of seeing your art and reaching out to you all in one place.

What else can I add?

  • Religious affiliation: For artists who are looking for a program affiliated with a particular faith, you have the option to select a religious affiliation.

  • Intended Degree: Do you know you want a BFA? Maybe a BA so you can study a little bit of everything? Or maybe you’re looking for a post-baccalaureate degree like an MFA or PhD. Let us know so you can get connected to the right program for YOU.

  • GPA: Some schools have minimum GPA requirements. Make sure they know you qualify by filling out your GPA!

  • Test scores: Including your test score might qualify you for scholarships!

  • Years of Training: Letting programs search for you by years of experience in your artistic field can show them what kind of program you’re looking for and your dedication in the field.

  • Headshot: Truly complete your profile by uploading your headshot or photo of yourself. It will make your profile look polished and complete!

And finally-make sure your profile is enabled!

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT: By disabling your profile, it is hidden from the arts organizations within Acceptd, and they will not be able to contact you unless you have submitted an application or interest form to them. Make sure arts organizations can find you, learn more about you, and contact you–by enabling your Acceptd profile!

So complete your Acceptd Profile, and make sure it tells us about YOU as an artist.
